Window Washer Critically Injured After 3-Story Fall

Window Washer Critically Injured After 3-Story Fall

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A local window washer is fighting for his life after falling three stories when his equipment malfunctioned.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Newmark Corporate Center in Miami Township. The center is located off Route 741 where a mirrored glass building sits and was where 23-year-old Cory Bailey fell more than 60 feet to the ground.

Rescue workers arrived and found Bailey on the ground with the scaffolding on top of him.

The wheels on the scaffolding are designed to roll across the flat deck of the roof as the green arms stick out with the window washer attached to them.

Southtown Professional Window Cleaning has worked on the building for 15 years, and this was the first accident of its kind.

Fast cleaning tips

Fast cleaning tips

Dust fast by using both hands and old tube socks. Slide a sock on each hand, spray one sock with cleaner or polish, and then pick up an object with one hand and dust with the other.

Dust lampshades by pulling a tube-socked hand down the lamp shade and then use a small, clean paintbrush to whisk dust off the shade. Get a 15-foot extension cord for the vacuum cleaner so it can reach all the rooms in one area. Begin dusting from either the right or the left and work your way around the room, dusting window sills and wall hangings as you come to them. Spray a lint-free towel with window-cleaning solution and toss it over one shoulder so it's ready to clean any glass tables or cabinets. For homes with pets, tuck a clean pair of rubber gloves into your back pocket.
